Vision :
The Primary objective of the Training Branch of West Bengal Police is to oversee, supervise and guide the entire training process of Police Personnel of West Bengal. The Training Branch, West Bengal Police has under its domain the SVSPA, STCs, TTCs spread across the length and breath of the State. The objective being to train police personnel in the State on a continuous basis and imbibe trainees with the skills to perform their duty with dedication and more importantly with a sense of service to the people. The Training Branch continuously stives to improve the training process so as to develop centres of excellence of Police Training in the State.
Mission :
The primary objective of the Swami Vivekananda State Police Academy, West Bengal, is to impart basic training to the officers and men of West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police to prepare them in such a manner so that they achieve the desired level of physical fitness, mental alertness and professional skill to serve the people of the state with courage, conviction, uprightness and dedication. The Academy will endeavour to inculcate in them the integrity of the highest order, sensitivity to the aspiration of the people, respect for the human rights and sensitiveness for the special rights of the weaker sections of the society. The Academy has also the objective to arrange in-service training for the officers and men to make them aware of the social changes, the changes in legislations and to bring about a change in their aptitude for serving the people better. The Academy will maintain close contacts with the S.V.P. National Police Academy and other Police Training Institutions of the country for the improvement of its training methodology and training curriculum. The Academy will be a centre for assessment of training needs of the state and make sincere efforts for the improvement of the functioning of the officers and men in the field through continuous evaluation of their performance during practical training.
Swami Vivekananda State Police Academy, West Bengal, Barrackpore has been declared as the Regional Police Training Institute of Eastern Zone by SVPNPA, Hyderabad.
